spiced pear and walnut oatmeal
makes 4 servings
ingredients:
1 cup of old fashioned oats or steel cut oats
1 cup of non-dairy milk
1 cup of water
2 pears, diced
2 tbsps of pure maple syrup, raw honey, or agave
1/2 tsp of warm spice mix (or 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 tsp of ginger)
1 tsp of dairy free butter, optional
walnuts, chopped and roasted, for topping
supplies:
saucepan and mixing spoon
serving bowl
directions:
bring the milk and water to a boil in a saucepan. once boiling, add in the oatmeal, diced pears, and cinnamon/warm spice mix. lower the heat and simmer until the oatmeal has cooked and thickened to your desired consistency. remove from the heat and stir in butter, if desired. serve topped with walnuts.
