Ingredients:

1lb bag of dry black beans

Water

Garlic powder

Onion powder

Salt and pepper

Cayenne pepper

Red pepper flakes

3 bay leaves

Crock Pot

Directions:

Sort black beans, looking for rocks or abnormal beans, then rinse. Put in crock pot and cover with water (usually around 6 cups). Make sure your crock pot is big enough to hold all ingredients, as the beans will expand as they cook. The water should cover the beans by about an inch. Add all seasonings and bay leaves except for salt. Season to your taste, I eyeball about a tbsp for everything; I like my beans spicy so I'm heavier on the cayenne and red pepper flakes. Turn crock pot on and cook on low for about 8 hours or high for about 5 hours (I usually use the low setting, while I'm at work or sleep). In the last hour of cooking, add salt. I use about 1/2 tbsp, but season to your own taste. Before serving I top with pepper and a little more red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
